We are excited to embark upon another outstanding school year. Our theme for this year is “IMAGINE
THAT.” My team is very eager to meet our new students and all smiles to embrace our returning
students. Over the summer we have held several meetings highlighting the upcoming school year. No
worries if you did not have a chance to make any meetings or for some reason you missed our
communications. We will get you up to speed so that everyone can go into the new school year with a
smooth transition. I am pleased to alert you of some very exciting events that have occurred for Richard
Wright Public Charter Schools between the ending of last school year to our present date and time.
The first exciting news is that for the fifth straight year in a row we have had one hundred percent
college acceptances to five or more institutions of higher learning for every member of the 2019
graduating class. We also celebrate two graduates who have chosen to serve in the United States Army.
The second exciting news is that the graduating class of 2019 amassed over 1.2 million dollars in
scholarships and financial aid support for our soon to be freshman in college/universities.
The third exciting announcement is that we have purchased a new facility at 475 School Street, SW
which is currently being renovated into a state of the art facility for our students which will be ready for
us to relocate in 2020. More information and a presentation of the new facility will take place at our
Back to School Night on Thursday, August 15, 2019 at 6:00 pm. Student schedules will be given out and
uniform sales/pickup will also take place.
The fourth exciting announcement is that I am pleased to announce that I have hired a Principal to
relieve me of one of my duties as I work on bringing more resources and services for our students and
families. The new Principal is Mr. Michael Wilson firstname.lastname@example.org who comes to us as a
tenured educator with Principal and other school leadership experience. I am confident that as I move
to solely serving as the Chief Executive Officer and Head of Schools that he will do an outstanding job of
serving our students and families to ensure that our students will continue to have a first class education
and overall educational experience.
The fifth exciting news is that I am pleased to announce that I have hired a new Director of Special
Education. The new Director is Mr. Marcus Travers email@example.com who comes to us as
a tenured Special Educator with a wealth of experience and leadership skills. If you have a child that
receives special needs services or holds a 504 plan, please reach out to Mr. Travers if you have not
already done so.
The sixth exciting announcement is that we were able to establish our dual enrollment program with
various colleges and universities in the District of Columbia. Several students have already been
enrolled in this program and we look forward to adding many more in the near future. Any questions
please reach our school counselor Mr. Marion Malone firstname.lastname@example.org at 202.388.1011
The seventh exciting announcement is that we have added another Advanced Placement course to our
catalog by adding an AP Government Course. Academics are a very BIG DEAL to the Richard Wright
community and we look forward to continuing the progress.
The eighth exciting announcement is that we will be offering golf and martial arts as a sport this year.
Any student or Parent that has experience with these sports and would like to support us getting it off
the ground, please reach out to our Parent and Community Liaison Ms. Randi Glover at 202.388.1011
ext. 155 or email@example.com.
The ninth exciting news is that Richard Wright will be working on its first full length film which will take
place over a two-year span in preparation for the 10th Annual Black Tie Gala. The awesome news is that
we plan to shop this project for a motion picture deal. Any parents with skills in carpentry, fashion
design, script writing, acting, make-up artistry or music/music production, we invite you to let us know.
Please reach out to our Chief Creative Officer, Ms. Michelle Santos firstname.lastname@example.org.
The tenth and final news, but the most important, is that WE ARE so excited that you and your family
has chosen Richard Wright Public Charter Schools for Journalism and Media Arts as the institution to
serve your child. We take this awesome responsibility with pride and excitement! This year is going to
be amazing, and if you have any questions or concerns, please feel free to let us know. If you have not
