Washington DC’s Habitat for Humanity showcases “Women Build: She Nailed It” a Hand Up from Dependance to Self-Reliance

Ambassadors Jakalya Mordecai and Davon Harris covered a press conference on Wednesday, August 16th, 2017 in Ivy City for RWN News. They got a sneak preview and media tour of the Ivy City construction site of new Habitat for Humanity homes. This project is designed to help women who are heads of households and face tremendous obstacles to getting out of poverty. Habitat DC makes the impossible happen, through its many volunteers and partners, PenFed Credit Union and the Deputy Mayor for Greater Economic Opportunity, Courtney Snowden. Here we see real Wonder Women. Through the volunteer build program and financial training, hundreds of women are escaping poverty and uncertainty and receiving a “hand up, not a hand out.” Habitat for Humanity of DC partnered with PenFed Credit Union, Freddie Mac, Kiwanis Club of DC, and the Washington Mystics for this event.
